FIVE pensioners have been the victims of terrifying robberies in Belfast and Co Antrim inside 48 hours.
LED Street Light LU08-224WAn 83-year-old woman was grabbed around the neck and threatened by a thief who broke into her Belfast home.
The pensioner and her 65-year-old daughter were preparing to go to bed early yesterday morning when the intruder forced his way into their Tates Avenue home.
He grabbed the elderly woman around the neck before demanding that both women hand over their handbags.
The bags were found at Lisburn Road - money had been taken.
A short time later, also in Belfast, a thief forced a 72-year-old woman to the ground of her Reid Street home.

The woman was not injured but police say she was badly shaken.
An elderly Co Antrim couple were treated for shock after three masked men ransacked their home.
Police say the intruders broke in through a rear window of the house at Carnlough on Saturday night before subjecting the couple to a terrifying ordeal.
They shone torches into the couple's eyes and told them to remain in bed while they ransacked the house.
At one point, they pinned
embroidered patches the man to the bed by his arms.
They left with a large sum of money.
